Our story: sailing for everyone

Sailability On Tweed is a non-profit, volunteer organisation born from a passion to share the exhilarating experience of sailing with everyone. We provide people of any age, ability, or disability with engaging and accessible sailing activities right here in Tweed Heads, Australia. Our journey began with a simple belief: the open water and the wind in your sails should be a joy accessible to all. We meet Wednesday mornings from 9 am (for about 4 hours) next to the boat ramp in Dry Dock Road South Tweed.

Our main goal at Sailability On Tweed is to profoundly improve the outlook of disabled people by introducing them to the sheer joy of sailing. We believe that being on the water fosters independence, builds confidence, and creates unforgettable memories. The impact we strive for is simple yet powerful: to enhance lives, encourage participation, and create an inclusive community where everyone can experience the freedom of the sea. We're committed to quality and great service in everything we do.

Our amazing volunteers: the heart of Sailability

Sailability On Tweed wouldn't be possible without our incredible volunteers. They come from all walks of life, united by a love for the outdoors and a passion for sharing their skills with others. Our dedicated team handles everything from rescue boat operations, boat rigging, and assisting sailors with disabilities both in and out of the boats, to essential on-shore organisational duties. Each volunteer plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and empowering experience for all our participants. Their commitment makes our mission a reality.
